Gunmen attack, kill three policemen at checkpoint in Ebonyi

The Ebonyi State Police Command has been plunged into mourning following the shooting to death of three police at a checkpoint and a fourth policeman sustained a bullet wound.

The policemen attached to Oshiri Police Division were killed on the 24th of May 2023, at about 9: am. The men were said to have been attacked and killed by unknown armed persons in the state.

The deceased officers have been identified as Inspector Nwangbo Simon, Inspector Okporo Chukus of 32 PMF Abakaliki, and Sergeant Duru Dominic, who were shot dead while Inspector Nworie Emmanuel sustained a bullet wound and was rushed to Fatha II Abakaliki.

A Situation Report sighted by securitynewsalert.com, states thus: “Attack on police checkpoint: today Wednesday 24th of May 2023, at about 9:am, there was an attack on Oshiri Division policemen while on their stop and search duty at the divisional headquarters entrance by unknown armed persons. Inspector Nwangbo Simon, Inspector Okporo Chukus of 32 PMF Abakaliki, and Sergeant Duru Dominic were shot dead while Inspector Nworie Emmanuel got bullet wound and was rushed to Fatha II Abakaliki and corps of the killed had been deposited at the general hospital mortuary Onueke. The Commissioner of Police Ebonyi State Command, CP Sunday F has visited the division and left.”
