A 70-year-old man, identified as Afolabi Michael, who was accused of the defilement of an 11-year-old girl, has vehemently denied it, insisting that he only romanced her and never had sexual intercourse with her.

The alleged perpetrator, still determined to prove his innocence reiterated that he had been suffering from a weak erection for many years now, thus there was no way he could penetrate the child.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, said that on the 27th of September, 2024 at about 12:pm, the case of defilement was transferred from Iju Division to the Gender Unit of Lagos State Police Command for discreet investigation.

He added: “The case was reported by the complainant on behalf of her daughter aged 11 against one Afolabi Michael, 70. The complainant alleged that sometime in July when school was on vacation and when the school resumed this year 2024 the survivor was defiled by the suspect.

“She stated further that the suspect had sexual intercourse with the survivor multiple times. The suspect was cautioned in English Language where he confessed that he romanced the survivor, though he denied having sexual intercourse with her claiming that he has been suffering from a weak erection for many years now.

“However, the suspect has been arraigned in court for defilement on the 10th of October 2024, and has been remanded.”
