The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, in a decisive move to enhance the fight against violent crime and strengthen the intelligence-gathering capabilities of the Nigeria Police Force, has procured cutting-edge technological devices and applications for the Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU).
These tools are expected to significantly aid in crime detection, prevention, and the swift apprehension of criminals.
In line with global best practices, the IGP has also directed the commencement of comprehensive training programs for TIU personnel. These rigorous sessions are tailored to equip officers with the skills necessary to operate the newly acquired technologies effectively, ensuring the Force remains responsive and adaptable to evolving criminal tactics.
Recognising the rapidly shifting dynamics of crime both globally and within Nigeria, the IGP continues to prioritise innovation and technology-driven strategies in policing. Recent operational successes, such as the dismantling of a notorious arms trafficking syndicate spanning Benue, Taraba, Adamawa, and Plateau States, highlight the growing impact of intelligence-led policing under the current leadership.
The Inspector-General of Police reaffirms the unwavering commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to implementing proactive measures that deter crime and address emerging security challenges, assuring all Nigerians of a robust and strategic response to threats nationwide.
