-

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on May 27th, 2025, commissioned 50 state-of-the-art operational vehicles for the Explosive Ordnance Disposal—Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Unit of the Nigeria Police Force. This feat underscores the IGP’s commitment to prioritising the safety and security of the nation.

These customised vehicles are meticulously designed and equipped to effectively address modern security threats. They represent a deliberate and strategic investment in bolstering the nation’s security infrastructure, as the EOD-CBRN Unit remains a critical component in the ongoing fight against terrorism and evolving security challenges.

Speaking at the commissioning, the IGP highlighted the bravery and dedication of the EOD-CBRN operatives, stating that this commissioning marks a further step in the holistic reform agenda to reposition the NPF as a modern, technologically-driven institution capable of effectively addressing the evolving security landscape. The IGP emphasised that the investment in the EOD-CBRN Unit reflects the NPF’s commitment to proactive threat mitigation and ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens, further stating that the upgraded fleet will significantly enhance the unit’s operational capabilities, response times, and overall effectiveness in countering explosive-related incidents and CBRN threats.

The IGP extended his profound appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his continued support and commitment to strengthening the NPF. The NPF remains steadfast in its professional duties, dedicated to upholding the law, protecting lives and property, and maintaining peace and order throughout the nation.
