IGP Disu Honours 17 Fallen Mobile Police Officers at Abuja Memorial Parade

-

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, delivered a stirring tribute on Tuesday during a Memorial Parade held at the Force Headquarters.

The ceremony was convened to honour 17 fallen officers from the Police Mobile Force (PMF) who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Addressing gathered dignitaries, officers, and grieving families on May 19, 2026, IGP Disu emphasised the profound daily commitment made by members of the law enforcement agency.

“We want every Nigerian to feel, and to know in their hearts, that there are men and women in uniform who wake up every morning with one purpose: to serve, to protect, and if called upon, to give everything,” Disu stated.

The police chief spoke directly to the deep personal losses suffered by the loved ones left behind, acknowledging that the impact of these losses ripples across the entire country.

“Behind every fallen officer is a family left behind, a future cut short, and a nation that owes them an immeasurable debt of gratitude,” Disu said.

In a resolute pledge to the families and the nation, the Inspector-General affirmed that the sacrifices of the 17 officers would remain a guiding force for the institution, promising that the security agency would remain steadfast despite ongoing challenges.

“Their sacrifices will never be forgotten, and we solemnly pledge that their deaths will not be in vain,” the IGP declared. “The Nigeria Police Force will not waver. We will continue to show up, to stand firm, and to give our very best in service to this great nation.”
