IGP Disu Meets MACBAN, Pledges Police Protection for All Law-Abiding Citizens

-

Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu on Wednesday received the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, using the occasion to call for peaceful coexistence among communities and deeper collaboration between citizens and security agencies.

The courtesy visit was led by MACBAN’s National President, Alhaji Baba Othman Ngelzarma, and comes amid ongoing concerns over farmer-herder conflicts across several states in the country.

Addressing the delegation, Disu acknowledged the livestock sector’s significant contribution to the national economy and stressed that lasting peace could only be built on mutual trust, dialogue, the rule of law, and the timely sharing of credible intelligence.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains impartial in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities,” Disu said, adding that the force would uphold the rights of all citizens while ensuring that anyone found engaging in criminal acts faces the full weight of the law.

The IGP also urged all stakeholders to encourage lawful conduct within their communities and remain active partners in national security efforts.

In his response, Ngelzarma congratulated Disu on his appointment and praised the police force’s strides in professionalism and public accountability. He reaffirmed MACBAN’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and pledged the association’s continued support for security agencies.

The meeting reflects growing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to engage non-state actors and community groups as part of a broader community policing strategy aimed at reducing violence and building public confidence in law enforcement. #Securitynewsalert.com
