IGP Disu Meets NUC, POLAC, UNOCT on Counter-Terrorism Training Programme

-

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Thursday held a strategic meeting with representatives of the National Universities Commission (NUC), the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) to discuss the proposed domestication of the Specialised Training Programme on Counter-Terrorism Investigation at the Nigeria Police Academy.

The meeting, held on June 18, focused on advancing the academic integration and institutional adoption of the programme as part of broader efforts to strengthen capacity in counter-terrorism investigation and law enforcement education in Nigeria.

Also in attendance were Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, Patrick Atayero and Uche Ifeanyi Henry, who joined discussions on the framework for implementing the specialised training initiative within the academy’s academic structure.

According to the Nigeria Police Force, the engagement reflects a shared commitment among the participating institutions to enhance specialised investigative capabilities, deepen institutional collaboration, and develop sustainable counter-terrorism education and training programmes.

The proposed initiative is expected to strengthen the professional capacity of law enforcement personnel and contribute to Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and other emerging security threats through improved training and knowledge-based policing.

The meeting marks another step in the Nigeria Police Force’s drive to modernise law enforcement training and build strategic partnerships with national and international stakeholders in the security sector. #Securitynewsalert.com
