IGP Issues Cheques To Next Of Kin Of Fallen Police Officers

…Reaffirms Commitment To Police Welfare

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, in his efforts to ensure adequate welfare for the families of fallen Police Officers, has once again presented insurance cheques of the IGP Family Welfare Scheme to 2,148 beneficiaries and next of kin of Police Officers who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.

 

The event which took place on the 24th of September at the IGP’s smart conference hall, Louis Edet House, Abuja, saw the disbursement of a total amount of Five Billion, Seven Hundred and Fifty-Four Million, Two Hundred and Ninety Thousand, Four Hundred and Eighty-Six Naira, Thirty-Eight Kobo (N5,754,290,486.38) to the beneficiaries and next of kins making it the largest single disbursement ever made.

 

This presentation marks the fourth of its kind in the year 2024, with the total amount of money issued out to beneficiaries and next of kin of deceased police officers since the launch of the program totalling Nine Billion, Eight Hundred and Fifty-One Million, Eight Hundred and Forty-Seven Thousand, Eight Hundred and Eighty-Nine Naira, Eighty Eight Kobo (N9,851,847,889.88) to 5,225 families.

 

The IGP reemphasizes the administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of all officers including those serving, retired, and deceased, fulfilling the promise of making sure the families of deceased police officers are well catered for.

 

The Inspector General of Police similarly extends sincere gratitude to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for prioritizing police welfare and ensuring the timely release of the premium for the Insurance Scheme.
