IGP Opens PMF Instructors’ Training in Nasarawa, Charges Trainers on Operational Readiness

-

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Friday formally opened a training course for trainers and instructors of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) at the PMF Training College in Ende-Hills, Nasarawa State.

The programme brings together selected PMF trainers and instructors from across the country and is designed to strengthen instructional capacity, sharpen tactical competence, and boost operational readiness across the Force’s 84 PMF Squadrons.

Senior police and security officials attended the opening ceremony, including DIG Umar Shehu Nadada, DIG Operations; AIG Alonyenu Idu, who oversees the PMF; DCP Sunday Audu Peter, Commandant of the PMF Training College, Ende-Hills; Brah Samson Umoru, Nasarawa State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps; and commandants from other PMF training colleges.

Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, made a brief appearance at the event, commending the IGP’s leadership and ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.

AIG Idu also praised the IGP’s efforts to reposition the PMF, saying the training had reinforced personnel’s commitment to upholding the Force’s tactical strike arm’s reputation.

In his address, IGP Disu described the training as a strategic step in shaping the operational future of the PMF, noting that today’s security challenges demand continuous learning, adaptability, discipline, and tactical skill. He urged the trainers to act as force multipliers, ensuring the knowledge they gain is passed down to personnel in their respective units.

The IGP added that a modern PMF must blend tactical strength with intelligence, precision, discipline, professionalism, and respect for the law, describing operational readiness as a culture rather than a one-off exercise. He encouraged participants to prioritise real competence over certificates.

The event also featured tactical displays and practical demonstrations by trainees, highlighting their skills and discipline.

The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to continuous training, modernisation, and welfare, stating that it remains focused on equipping the PMF to stay disciplined, agile, and effective in protecting lives and property nationwide.
