The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate deployment of tactical, operational, and intelligence teams to Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State following a deadly attack that occurred on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
According to a statement shared by NTANetwork, the IGP strongly condemned the attack and extended condolences to the families of the victims and residents of Kwara State.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains firmly committed to the protection of lives and property,” Egbetokun said, while reassuring Nigerians that security agencies are taking decisive steps to address the situation.
The police chief directed the reinforcement of security presence in Kaiama and neighbouring communities in a bid to restore calm and prevent further attacks.
Authorities have also commenced a full-scale manhunt for those responsible for the violence. The Force emphasised its determination to ensure that perpetrators are identified, tracked, and prosecuted.
Meanwhile, residents of affected communities have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information through the nearest police station or other approved communication channels.
