The Ikosi-Ejirin Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has commissioned and handed over a newly constructed divisional office, an operational bus and a motorcycle to the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to strengthen security operations in the area.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Wednesday, Lagos State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, said the Commandant General of the Corps, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, expressed appreciation to the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejirin LCDA, Dr Wale Anomo, the Ayandelu of Odo-Ayandelu Kingdom, Oba Ganiu Aderibigbe Asunmo, and residents of the council for providing the new facility.
Keshinro said the completion of the project reflected the confidence of both the government and the traditional institution in the mandate of the NSCDC and their commitment to protecting lives and property.
He described the new divisional office as a symbol of collaboration between the government, the community and security agencies, adding that it would serve as a rapid response base, an intelligence-gathering centre and a place where residents could report security concerns.
The Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejirin LCDA, Dr Wale Anomo, said the partnership between the local government, traditional institutions and security agencies had strengthened the area’s security architecture and contributed to its development.
He pledged to sustain the collaboration with community leaders and security agencies to improve safety and deliver democratic dividends to residents.
Also speaking, the Ayandelu of Odo-Ayandelu Kingdom, Oba Ganiu Aderibigbe Asunmo, commended the council chairman and members of his cabinet for ensuring the successful completion of the project and providing logistical support to make the divisional office fully operational.
The monarch urged officers of the NSCDC divisional office to intensify efforts to rid the community of crime and criminal activities.
Among dignitaries present at the event were the Executive Vice Chairman of Ikosi-Ejirin LCDA, Hon. Wasiu Dehinsilu, the Council Manager, the Leader of the House, traditional rulers from Ejirin Kingdom, Agbowa, Orugbo-Iddo, Owu-Ikosi and Otta-Ikosi, representatives of sister security agencies and other guests. #Securitynewsalert.com
