The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, in preparation for the 2024 Independence Day celebrations, has collaborated with other security agencies to implement a comprehensive security strategy across all 27 Local Government Areas.
The Command’s spokesman, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Okoye Henry, said that this initiative aims to ensure a safe and peaceful observance throughout the state.
Henry added: “As part of this strategy, joint patrols and confidence-building measures are actively underway. These operations are designed to deter criminal activities and reassure citizens that they can go about their daily lives without fear.
“In response to recent threats from the proscribed IPOB/ESN militia group, the Police Command has established robust security measures to address any potential risks. Citizens are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station or via 0803 477 3600, reinforcing our shared commitment to community safety.
“On this 64th anniversary of our nation’s independence, CP Danjuma extends warm greetings to all citizens. He calls on everyone to join in prayers for peace and to actively contribute to the unity and development of our nation, fostering an environment that promotes economic growth and prosperity.”
