International day for elimination of violence against women, girls by Rainbow Watch

-

Rainbow Watch and Development Centre, a non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting gender equality and protecting the rights of women and girls, is urging all stakeholders to make a strong commitment towards ending violence against women and girls on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

Violence against women and girls is a pervasive and deeply rooted issue that affects millions of individuals around the world. It takes many forms, including physical, sexual, and psychological violence, and is often fueled by gender inequality and harmful societal norms.
The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, observed on November 25th each year, serves as a global platform to raise awareness about this issue and mobilize action to eradicate it. Rainbow Watch and Development Centre believes that it is essential to involve all stakeholders, including governments, civil society organizations, and individuals, in order to combat this violence effectively.
Rainbow Watch and Development Centre calls upon governments to strengthen legal frameworks and ensure the implementation of laws that protect the rights of women and girls. This includes enacting legislation to criminalize all forms of violence against women and ensuring access to justice for survivors.
Additionally, the organization urges civil society organizations, including women’s rights groups, to continue their tireless advocacy work and provide support services to survivors. They are crucial in creating awareness, offering counselling and shelter, and empowering women and girls.
Lastly, Rainbow Watch and Development Centre emphasize the importance of individual commitment to ending violence against women and girls. Education and awareness-raising initiatives can challenge harmful gender stereotypes and promote respect and equality. Everyone needs to speak out against violence and promote a culture of non-violence and gender equality in their own lives and communities.
On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Rainbow Watch and Development Centre expects stakeholders to recommit themselves to this cause and take concrete actions towards eradicating violence against women and girls. By standing together, we can build a world where women and girls can live free from violence and discrimination.
