IPOB accused of opening fire, killing three policemen, injuring another

Policemen at Delta State Police Command have been plunged into mourning following the murder of three policemen today 24th July 2022, by men suspected to be Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB).

The murdered policemen were identified as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Eke Francis, Inspector Joshua Akengbo, and corporal Perekedo Unene. The killers made away with two AK47 rifles belonging to the slain policemen.

The fourth policeman, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Bassey Wisdom escaped death by the whiskers and is currently battling to stay alive at an undisclosed hospital.

Julianafrancisnews.com learned that today at about 4:47 PM, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Okpanam, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Mr. Gambo, received a distress call from a local vigilante member identified as Ruji.

Ruji told Gambo that other vigilante members in his community were attacked and immediately Gambo detailed four patrol men to the hospital to check on the injured men.

Just as the patrol team drove out of the station, armed men suspected to be IPOB opened fire on them, killing three among the policemen.

A police source said: “We received information that the shooters were IPOB members led by one Okpanam man, known as Okputo. The vigilante men are receiving treatment at the hospital, while the deceased policemen had been deposited at a special hospital mortuary.”
