A journalist, Glorious Abel, working with the Rivers State Television, accused the general overseer of a church in the state of causing his security details to kidnap and torture him.
According to reports, the GO entered the premises of RSTV at about 11:PM with gunmen and ordered them to bundle Abel, the Operational Director on duty.
It was further alleged that the GO did this because his programme was stopped due to overproduction.
The journalist was taken to an unknown destination and after he was beaten, he was brought back and dumped at the gate of RSTV at about 3:am.
It was further alleged that the GO was in the habit of harassing the station’s Operation Directors on duty whenever they stopped his programme after it exceeded the required 30mins slot he paid for.
The journalist and his colleagues are urging human rights activists to come to the aid of the journalists.
