The Kano State Police Command said it has smashed a female-led syndicate of thieves in the state and recovered several smartphones.
The Kano State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a Superintendent of Police, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, identified the female gang member as Shamsiyya Adamu.
According to Kiyawa, Adamu and her gang members have been arraigned before a Chief Magistrates Court, Number 18 Gyadi Gyadi in Kano for criminal conspiracy, trespass, and theft.
Kiyawa added: “In addition to the initial arrests, four more suspects – Fati Auwal, Kamal Sale, Usman Nasir, and Bashir Ibrahim – were taken into custody for theft and receiving stolen properties. Twelve mobile phones were recovered from them, and investigations are ongoing.
“A total of 86 people have lodged complaints against the suspects, highlighting the extent of their nefarious activities. The State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, has directed the continuation of the recovery of stolen phones and appreciated the support and cooperation of the law-abiding people of the state. This development is part of the Kano State Police Command’s efforts to ensure safety and security in the state.”
