Radda describes loss of officers as a painful blow to the nation, backs probe into cause
Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has expressed deep shock and sadness over the crash of a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) ATR-42 aircraft near Igbokoda in Ondo State.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the governor described the incident as a painful loss to the nation. He noted that the officers died in active service to the country while on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos.
Governor Radda aligned himself with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive for a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash, stressing that the findings should help prevent a recurrence. He also assured the Armed Forces of the continued support and solidarity of the Katsina State Government and people.
The governor extended his condolences to President and Commander-in-Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu; the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke; and the Government and people of Ondo State, led by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. He also sympathised with the families of the 25 passengers and seven crew members involved in the tragic incident.
