The Katsina State Police Command has rescued nine women, who were about to be trafficked, says the State’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a Superintendent of Police, Gambo Isah.
According to Isah, on 29th September at about 4:PM, based on credible intelligence, the operatives from the command raided a criminal hideout at Daura Local Government Area and rescued nine women from human traffickers.
The PPRO identified the rescued women as Timilaye Ojo 26, Blessing Joseph, 19, Khadija Abdullahi, Safiyyat Ahmed, 21, Precious Nuhu, 22, Bolanle Adewusi, 32, Okpoekwu Eunice, 28, Kabirat Azeez 19 and Taiwo Adeolo 27.
Isah said: “In the course of the investigation, the victims stated that they were conveyed from Kano State to Daura by a driver, who on sighting the Police team, abandoned the victims and took to his heels. They further stated that they were enroute to Libya through the Niger Republic border. The investigation is ongoing with a view to arresting the fleeing suspect.”
