The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested five suspects for alleged involvement in banditry and recovered three motorcycles and ₦600,000 offered as a bribe.
Police spokesperson said the arrest was made on September 18, 2025, at about 9:30 p.m., when a joint patrol team of police officers and vigilantes, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kamba, acted on credible intelligence.
The suspects, Saifullahi Suleiman (37), Halidu Adamu (26), Ibrahim Abubakar (37), and Sani Kabiru (22), all of Kamba town in Dandi Local Government Area — were found in possession of three Honda motorcycles, reportedly purchased from Benin Republic at the cost of ₦5.4 million.
Investigations revealed that the motorcycles were intended to be delivered to the Lakurawa terrorist group through an accomplice, identified as Alhaji of Kangiwa town, Arewa LGA, who is still at large.
During the investigation, another suspect, Mubarak Ladan (28) of Kamba town, allegedly attempted to bribe the DPO, SP Bello Mohd Lawal, with ₦600,000 to secure the release of the arrested men. He was promptly arrested, and the money was recovered as evidence.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Birnin Kebbi to intensify efforts to track down the fleeing accomplices.
Commending the DPO and vigilantes for their professionalism and courage, CP Sani urged other divisional officers across the state to emulate the Kamba team. He reiterated the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks, particularly along Kebbi’s border communities.
He further appealed to residents to continue supporting the police and other security agencies in ensuring a crime-free environment.
