The Kebbi State Police Command has refuted a widely circulated social media report alleging that a retired Assistant Controller of Customs constructed a private airport in the Argungu forest to smuggle cocaine and other illicit drugs into Nigeria.
In a press release dated October 29, 2025, the Command categorically condemned the publication as “baseless, misleading, and an orchestrated attempt to tarnish the image of the State, the Police Command,” and undermine the work of its officers.
The statement, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, anipr, asserted that the “mischievous publication” was designed to “create unnecessary fear, embolden unscrupulous elements, and undermine the ongoing operations in the state.”
The Police Command reiterated its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property, safeguarding peace, and ensuring stability, vowing not to allow Kebbi State to become a haven for criminals.
Authorities urged the public to disregard the rumour and issued a strong warning to those involved in creating and spreading such false information, highlighting the potential implications for individuals and the wider society.
The Command concluded by promising to continue working with “genuine media professionals” to combat the scourge of fake news and its inherent dangers.
