Lagos Police Arrests 147 Suspects, Recovers Cartridges, Machetes in Raid on Criminal Hideouts

-

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 147 suspects and recovered a cache of weapons, ammunition, illicit drugs and other exhibits during a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts across parts of the state.

The operation, conducted under the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE III, was carried out on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at about 5:30 a.m., following credible intelligence on the activities of suspected criminals.

According to the Command, a joint team of operatives drawn from different police formations stormed criminal hideouts at Boolar, Super Ile-Epo and other identified black spots across the state as part of efforts to flush out hoodlums and other criminal elements terrorising the areas.

During the operation, police arrested 147 suspects and recovered 250 expended cartridges, 22 machetes, five battle axes, two knives, one pair of scissors, a lighter, assorted charms, and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

The Command said all the suspects are currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine their individual involvement in criminal activities. It added that those found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their professionalism and dedication during the operation.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining Operation KO S’AYE across Lagos, stressing that the initiative is aimed at denying criminals safe havens and enhancing the safety and security of residents.

The police commissioner also appealed to members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information that would assist the Command in identifying criminal hideouts, apprehending offenders and improving public safety across the state.

The Command urged residents to report emergencies or share useful information through its designated emergency telephone lines. #Securitynewsalert.com
