Lagos Police Arrests 4 Suspected Armed Robbers, Recovers Phones, Laptops, Jewellery

-

The Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of four suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate operating in the Iju-Ishaga and Oke-Aro areas of the state, in what police describe as a breakthrough against violent crime.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) tracked the suspects down after acting on credible intelligence.

The suspects have been identified as Damilare Oluwatobi, 28; Lekan Adenuga, 30; Haruna Sheriff, 22; and David Balogun, 24. They were apprehended at a hideout in Idi-Oro, Mushin, following what police called “sustained intelligence gathering.”

A search of the hideout led to the recovery of a substantial cache of stolen items, including 25 mobile phones, two laptop computers, gold jewellery — comprising a necklace and earrings — and three cutlasses believed to have been used in robbery operations.

The four suspects are currently in police custody, where they are assisting investigators. Police say efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the syndicate who may be linked to the group’s criminal activities.

Commending the operatives involved, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, praised the VCRU for its swift and effective response.

“This arrest reflects the dedication and intelligence-led approach of our operatives,” the Commissioner said. “We remain committed to dismantling criminal networks across Lagos State and ensuring the safety and security of our residents.”

CP Fatai further urged members of the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the police promptly.

“Vigilance from the public is critical to our success,” he added. “We encourage residents to reach out to us immediately whenever they notice anything suspicious in their communities.”

Members of the public can reach the Command through its emergency lines: 07061019374, 08065154338, 08063299264, 08039344870, 08080193432 (Marine), and 09168630929.
