Lagos Police Charge 60-Year-Old Man with Rape

-

The Lagos State Police Command, Gender Unit, has arraigned one Ajayi Femi, 60, for allegedly raping a 24-year-old woman.

According to the Command, the case was first reported on August 22, 2025, by the victim’s sister at Meiran Police Station before being transferred to the Gender Unit for investigation.

Investigators said medical examinations and other findings revealed that the suspect spiked the victim’s drink, rendering her unconscious, before unlawfully having sexual intercourse with her without consent. Police added that the suspect confessed to the crime.

Femi has been charged to court and remanded in custody pending the next hearing date.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, assured the public of the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice for survivors of sexual offences and to maintaining a safe environment across the state. He also urged residents to report cases of sexual abuse at Family Support Units in divisions and area commands for swift action.
