LASTMA set to prosecute skits, filmmakers over unauthorised use of uniforms

-

…warns filmmakers to seek permit before the use of LASTMA uniform.
The Management of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has concluded all necessary arrangements to prosecute any skits or filmmakers caught using the Agency’s uniform or its affiliated colour, kits and accoutrements without any authorisation from the Government.

The General Manager of the Agency Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki frowned at the demeaning manner in which movie and skit makers portray Lastma institution in their movies and skits, using Lastma uniform without recourse to the Section 79 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 which criminalize such unauthorized use.
Mr. Bakare-Oki made this known today after seeing two (2) actors with fake Lastma uniforms in a viral video on social media where one of them was being revived through a diabolical means after impounding a white ‘Sienna’ space bus on the road.
According to Bakare-Oki “film or skit makers who portray as Lastma Officer without applying for, and being duly issued a permit letter for such portrayals, to desist with immediate effect or face the full wrath of the Law.
He believes that such sanity in movie production, regulation of possession and usage of Lastma uniforms will surely curb the proliferation of Lastma kits, uniforms and accoutrements within our society.
“We implore the National Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTA) and other affiliated bodies to warn their members as anyone caught using Lastma Uniform without an approved permit would be prosecuted by ‘Section 79 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
