Mass Abduction of Worshippers Causes Backlash Against Tinubu Government

-

An overseas-based religious activist, Deacon Nick Donnelly, has accused the Nigerian government of downplaying reports of mass abductions of Christians and funding what he described as a global misinformation campaign to deny religious persecution in the country.

In a post shared on social media on Tuesday, Donnelly urged the public to reject what he called “state-sponsored lies” surrounding recent security incidents.

“Don’t listen to the campaign of state-sponsored lies denying the abduction of over 170 Christians by Islamist terrorists,” Donnelly wrote.

He further alleged that President Bola Tinubu’s administration was financing an international public relations effort to obscure what he described as targeted violence against Christians.

“Tinubu is funding a $9 million misinformation campaign to deny the Islamist genocide of Christians in Nigeria,” he claimed.

Donnelly also called for international intervention, accusing the Nigerian government of complicity in religious persecution.

“The international community needs to take action against the Tinubu Islamist regime that is actively persecuting and killing Christians in Nigeria,” he added.

The claims have not been independently verified. Nigerian authorities have repeatedly denied allegations of religiously motivated violence by the state, maintaining that security challenges across the country are driven by criminality and insurgency affecting communities of different faiths.
