Murder of Arise TV journalist Re-Echoes As Officers Face PSC Promotion Interview

The 30 senior Police Officers who sat for the promotion examination yesterday, Monday, 29th of September 2025, faced a full panel of the Board of the Police Service Commission for a mandatory promotion interview.

 

The recent murder of Ms Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, a Journalist with ARISE TV News channel, was re-echoed at the interview session as the senior Officers were drilled on how best and how soon such avoidable incidents could be eliminated or reduced to the barest minimum in the country.

 

The Commission said it was worried about the increasing incidents of killings, kidnapping,  and armed robbery and demanded increased vigilance and commitment from the Officers.

 

Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu rtd mni, led a full team of the Commission which included Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, retired Justice of the Supreme Court, DIG Taiwo Lakanu, rtd, fdc, Justice Christine Ladi Dabup rtd, Alhaji Abdulfatah Mohammed,  DIG Uba Bala Ringim rtd and Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Secretary to the Commission.

 

DIG Argungu said the Commission will continue to hold the Police accountable for their actions and inactions and demanded of them undiluted loyalty and respect for human dignity.

 

DIG Argungu commended the Board Members for their oneness in the search for a truly efficient and effective Police Force for the new Nigeria of our dream.

 

He pledged the Commission’s readiness to ensure that the fight against crime and criminality will be won in no distant time.
