The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has significantly ramped up its air campaign and reinforced its aerial presence in Sokoto State to aggressively deny terrorists, bandits, and kidnappers freedom of action across the North-West.
The enhanced deployment is designed to maintain relentless pressure on criminal networks, boost intelligence-led aerial surveillance, and provide rapid-response air cover for ground troops engaged in ongoing joint security operations.
In an official statement detailing the operational push, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, emphasised the Service’s unwavering resolve to secure the region.
“The initiative reflects the Service’s determination to sustain pressure on hostile elements, enhance aerial surveillance, and maintain the capacity for rapid response to emerging threats, while providing effective air support to ground forces operating within the Joint Operations Area,” Ejodame stated.
Underscoring the operational shift, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, reaffirmed that the NAF will continuously optimise its force projection to deliver decisive, game-changing hits against hostile groups.
“The evolving security environment requires a combination of timely intelligence, responsive airpower, and seamless integration with surface forces,” Air Marshal Aneke declared. “The Service remains focused on maintaining operational readiness and ensuring that hostile elements are denied the freedom to threaten innocent communities.”
Military authorities have urged citizens across Sokoto and neighbouring states to assist ongoing counter-terrorism operations by feeding timely, credible intelligence to local security agencies.
