#Najeebahandhersisters: Police Promise To Rescue Victims As Kidnappers Jack ransom To N65m, give Wednesday as deadline

The Force spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, today promised that the Nigeria Police would do everything possible to ensure that Najeeba and her sisters would be rescued.

This promise came on the heels of Nigerians lambasting and criticising the police on social media for their being slow in trying to rescue the sisters. One of the sisters, Najeeba is believed to have been killed by the kidnappers to send a strong signal and make the frantic family hasten to raise the N60m demanded by them.

The girls are said to have been kidnapped two weeks ago and the family has been making frantic efforts to raise the ransom demanded by the kidnappers. The distraught family had also gone on social media to solicit funds from Nigerians.

It was gathered that after killing Najeeba, the kidnappers jacked the ransom to N65m and gave Wednesday as the deadline, after which another sister would be killed.

Adejobi said: ” In the wake of the abduction of six young girls in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, it is vital to state that the Police Force has already initiated a comprehensive plan of action.

“The Force Headquarters is diligently coordinating efforts to address this and prevent any further occurrences, as all hands are on deck to rescue the victims.

“However, the sensitivity of the situation necessitates discretion, and as a result, specific details are being kept confidential to avoid compromising ongoing operations. The NPF is actively engaging and contacting individuals crucial to the rescue operations and investigation. The objective is not only to bring perpetrators to justice but also to intensify efforts in rescue operations for victims still in captivity.

“Furthermore, recognizing the psychological impact on affected families, the Police are encouraging open communication with their operatives to provide support, information, and assistance to mitigate the psychological warfare imposed by kidnappers on the relatives and loved ones of their victims. ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi 13th January 2024.”
