National Police Day: Delta Police Holds Town Hall Meetings, Free Medical Outreach

-

As part of the ongoing commitment to community partnership and service, the Delta State Command successfully marked the 2025 maiden National Police Day with a series of impactful events aimed at strengthening police-community relations and promoting public welfare.

The Command held a statewide sanitation exercise, free medical outreach, student outreach, and town hall meetings.

These series of events were held simultaneously in all the eight Area Commands of the state, with the aim of fostering community engagement, promoting public health, and enhancing our collective environment.

As part of the student outreach, officers of the command in collaboration with representatives from POCACOV and DSS, visited selected primary and secondary schools.

They engaged students on topics such as personal safety, the role of law enforcement, and good citizenship with an emphasis on the avoidance of cybercrimes, cultism and drug abuse.

The town hall meeting chaired by the commissioner of Police CP OLUFEMI Abaniwonda provided a platform for dialogue between the police and residents.

It brought together key stakeholders from the PCRC, Honorary Mess members, State Anti-Cult, Vigilant Groups, members of Nigeria hunters, traditional rulers, and senior police officers to discuss pressing security concerns, foster dialogue, and encourage mutual understanding.

The engagement was frank, fruitful, and inspiring showing that security is truly a shared responsibility.

At the medical outreach, hundreds of community members benefited from free health services including blood pressure checks, malaria testing, consultation, and the distribution of essential medications. Police Medical professionals on the ground attended to hundreds of beneficiaries, leaving a positive mark on the community.

On 5/4/2025, the commissioner of Police CP OLUFEMI Abaniwonda led a spirited sanitation exercise in Ogbogonogo Market in Asaba and other public places in other local governments. CP Abaniwonda, ACP Alex Udeze, treat Commander Asaba and other officers and men of the command came together to clean public spaces. This effort symbolized the police’s commitment not just to law enforcement, but to a healthier and safer society.
