-

The Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association,  Benin Branch, Idemudia Iredia Osifo, has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for its effort in tackling economic and financial crimes in the country.

He gave the commendation when he led other executive members of the Association on a courtesy visit to the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Commission.

He noted that the EFCC was one of the country’s critical institutions that is working to ensure a better society for all. “I like how you are dealing with internet fraudsters.  Young people who should be future leaders of tomorrow are getting involved in criminality, EFCC is doing a great job in that regard”, he said.

Osifo, who revealed that he recently assumed office, called for the strengthening of existing relationships between the NBA and the Commission to achieve better results. “We believe that this synergy and collaboration is important, and we want to build on it for better results.”

Responding, the Ag. Zonal Director,  Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE I Effa Okim thanked the NBA executives for the visit. He noted that the bar and bench were critical stakeholders in the fight against economic and financial crimes as they were the “author and finisher of our work. No matter how good our work is, until it is tested in the court, you have not succeeded.” He assured the NBA Chairman and his executives of unhindered access and collaboration where necessary.
