The Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) Strategic Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Saturday organised a road walk to commemorate the United Nations Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The awareness walk, which commenced at the NAHCO Complex, the headquarters of the command, began at about 7:30 a.m. and attracted the participation of personnel from various sister security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Customs Service.
Speaking at the end of the exercise, the Commander of the MMIA Strategic Command, Ahmad Muhammad Tukur, expressed appreciation to all participants for supporting the campaign against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
Tukur urged participants to extend the anti-drug message to their families, friends, and communities to promote a healthier and safer society.
He emphasised that beyond the arrest, seizure, and prosecution of drug offenders, the NDLEA also has a critical responsibility to educate, sensitise, and enlighten members of the public on the dangers and consequences of drug abuse.
The road walk formed part of activities organised by the agency to raise awareness and strengthen public support for efforts aimed at combating drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking in Nigeria. #Securitynewsalert.com
