Nigeria Police Foils Bandits, Recovers Cache of AK-47 Rifles in Coordinated Raids

-

In continuation of the Nigeria Police Force’s strategic offensive against violent crimes and criminal syndicates threatening national peace and stability, the Force has recorded yet another major operational breakthrough through a series of recent intelligence-driven operations nationwide.
In July 2025, coordinated tactical operations led by the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID–IRT) were conducted across Taraba, Plateau, Adamawa, Nasarawa, and Niger States. These operations resulted in the neutralisation of three (3) armed bandits during multiple armed encounters. The suspects attempted to evade arrest upon sighting the operatives but were fatally subdued after intense gunfire exchanges. They abandoned their weapons and escaped into the surrounding terrain with varying degrees of gunshot injuries.

The operatives recovered ten (10) AK-47 rifles, linked to numerous criminal activities such as kidnapping, armed robbery, gunrunning, and cattle rustling. Follow-up tactical operations are currently underway to locate and apprehend fleeing members of the syndicates, who are believed to have masterminded deadly attacks on communities within the affected states.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, reiterates the Force’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding national security. The NPF will continue to intensify intelligence-led efforts to dismantle criminal enterprises and uphold its constitutional duty to protect life and property across Nigeria.
The Force encourages citizens to remain vigilant and actively support law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities to the nearest police formation or through official communication channels.
