Nigeria, UK Strengthen Strategic Ties at 4th Security, Defence Dialogue in Abuja

-

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Tuesday joined a high-powered delegation of Nigerian security chiefs for the Fourth Nigeria-United Kingdom Security and Defence Partnership Dialogue in Abuja.

The high-level engagement was co-chaired by Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and his United Kingdom counterpart, Jonathan Powell. The delegation included the Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, and other senior security stakeholders.

Discussions during the dialogue focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two nations to address evolving security challenges and advance mutual strategic interests.

The enduring partnership between Nigeria and the United Kingdom remains a critical pillar in enhancing defence collaboration, capacity building, intelligence sharing, and regional security.

Officials reiterated that the Nigerian Army remains committed to working alongside both national and international partners to strengthen security, promote stability, and safeguard Nigeria’s sovereignty in line with the Federal Government’s national security objectives.
