The Eastern Naval Command of the Nigerian Navy has successfully concluded its three-day maiden intra-command maritime tactical live-firing exercise, codenamed Exercise Littoral Fury.
The high-stakes drills, which took place in the Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River State, align directly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at bolstering national security and safeguarding critical maritime assets.
Speaking during the exercise, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, emphasised that the Nigerian Navy is committed to turning strategic plans into tangible results.
“The Nigerian Navy remains resolute in matching words with action to build a modern, agile, and professional naval force,” Vice Admiral Abbas stated. “Our primary focus is dedicated to securing the nation’s maritime domain while advancing overall national security objectives in full synergy with sister security agencies.”
Exercise Littoral Fury tested tactical readiness, target acquisition, and live-fire capabilities, demonstrating the Command’s improved capacity to deter piracy, illegal bunkering, and oil theft in the region.
Navy officials confirmed that similar tactical exercises will continue as part of ongoing efforts to guarantee safe passage for commercial shipping and protect vital coastal infrastructure.
