NOUN Seeks EFCC’s Collaboration on School’s Corruption Prevention Advocacy

-

The National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, has sought the collaboration of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on the implementation of anti-corruption preventive strategies designed by the school.

This was made known on Wednesday May 21, 2025 when the Director, Olusegun Obasanjo Center for Development, NOUN, Abuja, Professor Wilfred Ugwuanyi led a delegation from the university on a visit to EFCC Academy, Karu, Abuja.

“The purpose of our visit to the EFCC Academy is to seek your collaboration in the implementation of preventive strategies we have developed as part of the sustained anti-corruption campaign aimed at making Nigeria a better country,” he said.

Some of the key components of the preventive strategies according to Ugwuanyi include, the commencement of a nationwide workshop on corruption for electoral officers; national conference on EFCC and the fight against corruption from 2003 till date, which will chronicle the activities of the Commission from inception, designed to get the public better informed about the impacts of the EFCC in Nigeria’s anti-corruption fight; development of research materials for schools; anti-corruption workshops for traditional rulers, geared to take anti-corruption advocacy to the grassroots.

The Executive Chairman of EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, who was represented at the occasion by Acting Commandant of EFCC Academy, Assistant Commander of EFCC, ACE1 Joseph Ogwiji, welcomed the NOUN initiative and harped on the importance of collaborative efforts on corruption prevention advocacy.
