… Assures Anambra Residents Of Safety

Ahead of the May 30 Biafra Day declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, Commandant Maku Olatunde has affirmed the commitment of the Corps to its statutory mandate in the protection of Critical National, State and Local Government Assets and Infrastructure across the state.

Commandant Maku Olatunde stated this on Wednesday, May 30, 2025, when he paid a security assessment visit to Dr Josephat Akabuike Chukwudi, the Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital – Amaku (COOUTH-Amaku) as a proactive measure emplaced by the Command to prevent vandalism of  Critical National, State and Local Government Assets and Infrastructure across the state before, during and after May 30, 2025.

Comdt. Maku urged Anambra residents to go about their normal lawful business as the State Command, in collaboration with other sister security agencies, had put in place adequate security measures for their safety.

He warned  vandals, economic saboteurs and malicious individuals intending to destabilize the improved peace and security in the State to  have a rethink as anyone caught in the act will be made to face full wrath of the law.

Meanwhile, the State Commandant has directed  Area Commanders, Divisional Officers,  Tactical Team Commanders and composite commanders to ensure the protection of critical national, state and local government infrastructures within their jurisdiction.

Consequently, all formations are expected to uphold law and order, maintaining a state of high alertness and proactivity around key critical assets such as public and private offices, banks,  parks,  recreational centres, telecommunication facilities, electricity substations, hospitals, schools, churches, and other strategic locations.

Officers and Men deployed for this assignment have been tasked to work in line with the Standard Operating Procedures, Service Order and Rules of Engagement,  while supervising officers are to ensure strict supervision of their subordinates.

The  NSCDC State helmsman has also ordered the continued conduct of Operation Show of Force in collaboration with other sister security agencies across the state.

He urged citizens to remain security-conscious, support the NSCDC and other security agencies through prompt reporting of suspicious persons or activities within their domain to the nearest NSCDC Formation or contact the Commands via 08066769442, 08035791710, 08153171003 and  08037909304.
