NSCDC Reaffirms Protection of Chinese Investments, Infrastructure in Lagos

-

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Chinese investments, diplomatic missions, and key infrastructure across Lagos State.

The assurance was delivered on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, during a routine security conference and courtesy visit by the Lagos State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, to the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos.

Commandant Keshinro was received by Deputy Consul General Mr Wang Yue, who represented the Chinese Consul General, Her Excellency Ms Yan Yuqing, along with Chinese Police Liaison Officer Mr Liu Kai.

Addressing the diplomatic delegation, Commandant Keshinro highlighted the strategic importance of protecting vital national assets and acknowledged China’s role in manpower development for the Corps.

“Today’s routine courtesy call is embarked upon to appreciate the continued opportunity given to NSCDC personnel to travel to China for training and capacity building,” Keshinro stated. “The Lagos State Command of the NSCDC will continue to value the strong Nigeria-China bilateral relations with the view to ensuring assets and infrastructure protection, as well as deepening cooperation in emergency response and joint security initiatives.”

The visit follows a previous engagement on November 5, 2025, during which the Command emphasised the importance of building partnerships to enhance professional growth and workforce effectiveness.

During Tuesday’s session, discussions focused heavily on securing four critical sectors of Chinese investment in Lagos: telecommunications, mining, road construction, and railway systems.

In response, Deputy Consul General Mr Wang Yue expressed appreciation for the Command’s continued vigilance and operational assistance.

“We commend the NSCDC Lagos State Command for its professional support and law enforcement cooperation, made possible through effective collaboration and direct engagement with the Commandant,” Yue noted.

Furthering the bilateral security dialogue, Mr. Liu Kai led discussions on expanding joint operations into Very Important Person (VIP) protection and specialised mining site security.

The high-level meeting was attended by senior NSCDC officials, including Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC) Kolawole Agbetiloye (Critical National Assets and Infrastructure), DCC Olurotimi Shoyoye (Intelligence and Investigation), Chief Superintendent of Corps (CSC) Alima Owomunigbon, CSC David Adediran, and CSC Vokee Oghoghome.
