The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ogijo Police Station, is investigating a fatal road accident that occurred on the 1st of February,2025, at about 8:10 am in the Ile-Oba area along the Ogijo/Ita-Oluwo/Ikorodu Road.

The incident involved a TVS tricycle with license plate number Lagos BDG 561QN, driven by 21-year-old Usman Abdullahi, and a female pedestrian whose identity remains unknown.

Preliminary reports indicate that the pedestrian was attempting to cross the road when the tricycle, en route to the Ogijo main park, struck her.

As a result, she sustained severe head injuries and was immediately rushed to Omowunmi Hospital in Kusela, Ogijo, for urgent medical attention. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment.

Police officers who were first responders have taken swift action to secure the accident scene, conduct measurements, and gather photographic evidence.

The tricycle wreckage has been impounded at the police station for further inspection by the Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO). The driver, Usman Abdullahi, is currently in police custody as investigations continue.

Efforts are ongoing to transfer the deceased’s body to the morgue for preservation and an autopsy.

The motor traffic department has further warned road users to adhere to driving rules and avoid needless fatal crashes as the Command implores anyone with relevant information about the victim’s identity to come forward.

The public is reminded to exercise caution on the roads, especially in high-traffic areas, to prevent further tragedies.
