One Dead, Three Injured as Lexus Jeep Crashes Into Pole on Lagos Coastal Road

-

One person has died, and three others were seriously injured in a road crash early this morning along the Coastal Road, inward Eko Hotel, Lagos.

The crash involved a grey Lexus Jeep 350 with registration number LSD 554 KV. Preliminary security information indicates that the driver lost control of the vehicle, which rammed into a roadside pole and then overturned.

Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), who were monitoring traffic on the Coastal Road axis, rushed to the scene, cordoned off the affected section of the carriageway and coordinated the emergency response.

With the help of Good Samaritans, the three critically injured victims were pulled from the wreckage and taken to Duck-Yard Hospital in the Military Zone for urgent medical care.

Other emergency and security agencies were also called in to carry out rescue, investigative and safety procedures. Security personnel from Victoria Island provided reinforcement at the scene.

LASTMA officials later cleared the mangled vehicle from the road to prevent a secondary collision, restoring free movement of traffic along the route.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, extended his condolences to the family of the deceased and urged motorists to be more vigilant, manage their speed responsibly and obey traffic regulations.

He warned that excessive speed, reckless driving and loss of vehicle control can have devastating and irreversible consequences for motorists and other road users.

Bakare-Oki also called on motorists and members of the public to promptly report road crashes, vehicle breakdowns, obstructions and other emergencies through the LASTMA toll-free short code 3367 for quick intervention.
