One killed as DPO, team engage terrorists in gun battle

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Danmusa Police Station, along with his men engaged suspected in a gun battle leading to them fleeing with bullet wounds.

The Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a superintendent of Police (SP), Gambo Isah said that on the 27th of March at about 2:30 PM, a distress call was received that terrorists in their numbers, shooting sporadically with AK 47 rifles, blocked Danmusa – Yantumaki Road, Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

“Consequently, DPO Danmusa Division, led a team of Policemen to the area, engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel and successfully repelled them.

“In the course of scanning the scene, one of the terrorists-bandits was neutralized and his dead body recovered. Additionally, one AK 47 rifle   22 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition of AK 47 rifle was also recovered at the scene.

“Many of the terrorists were reasonably believed to have been neutralised and escaped the scene with gunshot wounds.  Search parties are combing the nearest bushes with a view of arresting them and/or recovering their dead bodies.

“The Command is appealing to members of the communities around the area to report to the nearest police station any person found or seen with a suspected injury. The Command appreciates the efforts of the Police for the display of uncommon courage, gallantry and professionalism in dealing with the hoodlums.”
