Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have repelled multiple attacks by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Buratai, Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, inflicting heavy losses on the insurgents.
According to military sources, the terrorists launched coordinated assaults in the early hours of June 19 on troops’ positions at Dusten Kura and Chara Road. Alert soldiers, acting on timely intelligence, swiftly engaged the attackers with superior firepower.
The counter-offensive was bolstered by the Nigerian Air Force, whose Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance assets and precision strike platforms proved decisive. The combined air and ground operations disrupted the terrorists’ advance, forcing them to retreat in disarray.
Military authorities confirmed that no casualties were recorded among OPHK personnel, while ISWAP suffered significant losses in both manpower and equipment.
This latest success highlights the synergy between ground and air components of OPHK and underscores the troops’ readiness to maintain pressure on insurgents. The Theatre Command reiterated its commitment to denying terrorists freedom of action and safeguarding citizens across the North East.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and continue providing timely intelligence to security forces. OPHK pledged to sustain aggressive operations aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities and restoring lasting peace in the region. #Securitynewsalert.com
