Over 600,000 Students Get UTME Results as JAMB Cracks Down on High-Tech Cheating

-

Thousands of families across Nigeria are breathing a sigh of relief as the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has begun releasing the first wave of results for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

On Thursday, 632,788 candidates who sat for the exam on April 16 received the green light to check their scores.

Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Board’s Public Communication Advisor, confirmed the update but noted that for now, the process is “view-only.” While students can see how they performed, the official printing of result slips remains disabled to ensure data security.

However, the excitement has been tempered by a sobering reminder of the lengths some will go to for an edge. In a striking development, Dr. Benjamin revealed that two students and a parent are currently in custody. They are accused of using artificial intelligence and sophisticated electronic tools to forge results, a move JAMB says will be met with the “full consequences of the law.”

The Board remains committed to a transparent process, reassuring those still waiting that results will be rolled out steadily as the testing window continues.

Students looking to find their scores can do so simply by texting “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 from their registered mobile numbers. #Securitynewsalert.com
