The Oyo State Police Command has rescued a 17-year-old boy, Daneri Alhaji Yaro, who was abducted by suspected kidnappers in Aladere Village, via Ikoyi-Ile, near the Government Reserve Forest in Oyo State.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the teenager was kidnapped in the early hours of August 5, 2026, but was rescued unhurt following a coordinated search-and-rescue operation involving the police, the Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes, and hunters.
The statement said the operation began after the victim’s father, Alhaji Yaro Babuga, reported the incident at the Ikoyi-Ile Divisional Police Headquarters.
“Acting swiftly on the information, the Divisional Police Officer immediately mobilised a combined team comprising Police operatives, members of the Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes, and hunters to the scene in a coordinated search-and-rescue mission,” the statement said.
The police explained that the joint security team combed the surrounding bushes and the adjoining Government Reserve Forest, mounting sustained pressure on the kidnappers.
“The sustained pressure mounted by the operatives proved decisive, forcing the kidnappers to abandon the victim and flee deeper into the Government Reserve Forest. The victim was rescued unhurt and has since been reunited with his family,” the statement added.
The command said intelligence-led operations have been intensified across the forest and surrounding communities to track down the fleeing suspects.
“Investigation is in progress, while concerted efforts are being sustained to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” the police said.
Commending the operatives involved in the rescue, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, praised the professionalism and collaboration demonstrated by the security agencies and local volunteers.
The commissioner said, “I commend the bravery, synergy, and professionalism exhibited by the Police, Amotekun Corps, local vigilantes, and hunters during the operation.”
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and strengthened inter-agency cooperation in tackling violent crimes across the state.
Olugbenga also urged residents to support security efforts by providing timely and credible information capable of aiding ongoing operations.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, has reaffirmed the Oyo State Police Command’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in combating corruption.
The commitment was made during a courtesy visit by the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner of the ICPC for Oyo and Ogun States to the Oyo State Police Command Headquarters in Ibadan.
According to the police, the meeting reinforced the existing partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and the anti-corruption agency.
“The meeting reaffirmed the strong partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and the ICPC, with both leaders committing to deepen inter-agency collaboration in the fight against corruption and other related offences,” the statement said.
The police added that both agencies stressed the importance of sustained cooperation in promoting transparency, accountability, and ensuring a safer, corruption-free Oyo State.
