…Lagos Police Reassures Residents, Deploy Security Forces

The Lagos State Police Command has moved to calm public fears following the circulation of a threatening notice allegedly pasted at a school, warning that bandits planned to attack and abduct schoolchildren.

In a statement released Sunday, the Command said there is currently no verified intelligence confirming any imminent threat of such an attack within Lagos State, and urged parents, guardians, school authorities, and residents to remain calm.

Commissioner of Police CP Tijani Fatai has ordered an immediate assessment of the situation and directed the deployment of security personnel across affected areas and other strategic locations in the state. Police, working in collaboration with other security agencies, have been positioned to secure schools, critical infrastructure, and communities.

“The Command will not tolerate any attempt by miscreants, bandits, kidnappers, or other criminal elements to threaten the peace and safety of residents,” the statement read, adding that anyone found engaging in acts capable of causing fear or insecurity would face the full weight of the law.

Authorities also called on residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious persons, objects, or movements to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines: 07061019374, 08065154338, 08063299264, 08039344870, and 09168630929.

“Security is a collective responsibility, and effective policing thrives on active partnership between the Police and members of the public,” the Command said, assuring Lagosians that all measures are in place to guarantee the safety and well-being of every resident.
