Plateau Attacks: At Least 25 Killed, Several Injured in One Week

-

At least 25 people were killed and several others injured in separate attacks across Plateau State between Sunday, September 13 and Saturday, September 19, 2026.

The latest violence claimed five lives in Gana-Ropp village, Ropp District, in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, where gunmen reportedly carried out an evening shooting on Saturday.

The attacks occurred in multiple locations across the state, according to various sources.

The week’s violence began with an attack on a commercial vehicle along a busy highway in South Jos. The vehicle was reportedly targeted while passengers were alighting at a busy junction in Dungus, Kuru District, Jos South Local Government Area.

At least nine people were killed in the incident.

On the same night, two people were reportedly killed in Ta-Hoss village, Riyom Local Government Area, located about three miles from the scene of the vehicle attack. Another two people were killed in Vodni village, Mangu Local Government Area, approximately 55 miles away.

The latest attacks on Saturday were reported to have occurred simultaneously in several locations.

While five people were killed in Gana-Ropp, at least two others sustained injuries in a similar assault on Ndar village in Bokkos Local Government Area, about 10 miles away.

Shootings were also reported in the Panyam area of Mangu, although details of the incident were not immediately available.

The Saturday attacks followed an earlier shooting at a busy farmers’ market in Mangu, where three people were killed and seven others injured, including a seven-month-old child.

The attack reportedly targeted a vehicle travelling to Panyam. The three victims were buried only hours before the fresh shootings occurred on Saturday.

The renewed violence has heightened concerns over the security situation in Plateau State, with several communities affected by attacks within a single week.
