Police, Army Arrest Two Suspected Robbers, Recover Snatched Tricycle in Enugu

-

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered a tricycle allegedly snatched from a rider in Enugu State.

The arrest was carried out by officers attached to the Command’s Crack Tactical Squad in collaboration with soldiers of the Nigerian Army stationed at Awgu in Awgu Local Government Area.

According to the Police, the operation followed a report received on March 9, 2026, at about 4:00 p.m., indicating that a two-man armed robbery gang had earlier attacked a tricycle rider along New Garriki, Enugu, and dispossessed him of his vehicle after assaulting him with an offensive weapon.

Acting on the information, the joint security team trailed the suspects and arrested them. The suspects were identified as Ejike Emewa, 21, and Njoku Christian Chigbo, 21. The stolen tricycle was also recovered during the operation.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, said the suspects would be arraigned in court after investigations are concluded.

The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the collaboration between the Police and the military, describing it as key to the swift arrest of the suspects and recovery of the tricycle.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to sustaining joint security operations aimed at ridding the state of criminal elements. #Securitynewsalert.com
