The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has reaffirmed the commitment of the police to deeper inter-agency collaboration following strategic courtesy visits to the 63 Brigade Nigerian Army and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the state.
Oyeniyi, who led members of the Command Management Team on the visits on Monday, April 27, 2026, said stronger cooperation among security agencies remains critical to tackling crime effectively.
Speaking during the engagements, the police chief noted that major crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, child trafficking and drug-related offences are interconnected and require a unified, intelligence-driven approach.
“No single agency can effectively address the prevailing security challenges alone. There is a need for sustained collaboration and intelligence sharing among all security stakeholders,” he said.
At the NDLEA Command, Oyeniyi stressed the urgency of joint efforts in combating drug trafficking and abuse, describing the menace as “a major driver of crime and a serious threat to the youth.”
He also commended both the Nigerian Army and NDLEA for their continued support and cooperation with the police in maintaining security across Delta State.
In their responses, the Brigade Commander of the 63 Brigade, Brigadier General M.A. Shonibare, and the NDLEA State Commander, CN Halilu Hamidu, lauded the Delta State Police Command for its proactive approach to security.
They reaffirmed their commitment to sustained partnership, highlighting the importance of intelligence sharing, joint operations and institutional cooperation in ensuring peace and public safety.
The visits, according to the police, underscore the Command’s resolve to deepen inter-agency synergy and promote a coordinated strategy in crime prevention across the state.
