Police Arrest Eight Suspected Kidnappers, Recover Rifles in Nasarawa Raid

-

The Nigeria Police Force says it has arrested eight suspected kidnappers and recovered firearms during a coordinated security operation in Rukubi Community, Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the operation followed a distress report received in the early hours of May 7, 2026, over an attack carried out by armed men in the community.

The police said the attackers invaded the area on the night of May 6, shooting sporadically and causing panic among residents before abducting two persons from separate homes to an unknown destination.

“Upon receipt of the report, police operatives of the Nasarawa State Command, in collaboration with other security agencies and local community youths, swiftly mobilised to the area and launched coordinated operations which led to the arrest of eight suspects linked to the incident,” the statement said.

The suspects were identified as Adamu Alfa, Muhammed Alfa, Shuaibu Alfa, Usman Alfa, Ali Alfa, Isa Alfa, Adamu Alfa, and Ja’afaru Alfa, all said to be from Rugan Alhaji Alfa in Rukubi Village.

Police also disclosed that security operatives recovered two AK-47 rifles, four Bajaj motorcycles, and two expended 7.62mm ammunition shells allegedly connected to the attack.

The Force further revealed that one of the suspects sustained fatal injuries during the operation and later died while receiving medical treatment.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operatives involved in the mission, describing the outcome as proof of the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and collaboration among security agencies.

He also appreciated the support of local vigilante groups, community youths, and residents whose cooperation, according to him, contributed significantly to the success of the operation.

“The success is a strong demonstration of the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and inter-agency collaboration in combating violent crimes,” the IGP stated.
