-

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force’s Special Tactical Squad (STS) have arrested five suspects in connection with the armed robbery of a mobile phone and accessories consignment in Ogun State, valued at approximately ₦100 million.

According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the arrests followed a petition filed by Sanniphil Company with the Inspector-General of Police over the violent robbery of its goods.

Acting on the petition, STS operatives launched a discreet investigation on 10th August 2026, which culminated in the arrest of the suspects within Ogun State.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the robbery occurred on 5th August 2026 at about 7:00 p.m., when the suspects attacked a company vehicle conveying mobile phones and accessories from Lagos to Onitsha, making away with the entire consignment.

The suspects have been identified as Okori Joyus, 23; Yetunde Lasisi, 53; Usen Samuel, 20; Usen Wisdom, 25; and Quadri Oluwadare, 56.

Police recovered 81 brand-new smartphones and 196 chargers from the suspects as exhibits.

Authorities say efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the syndicate and recover the remaining stolen items.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to protecting businesses and citizens from violent crime nationwide.
