Police arrest suspected robbers, recover English, local pistols

The Delta State Police Command has arrested suspected armed robbers and recovered two pistols.

The State’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a Deputy Superintendent of Police, (DSP), Bright Edafe, said that on the 8th of December 2022, at about 4:30 PM, Dragon Patrol teams on ‘Stop and Search duty along Warri/Sapele Road, intercepted a black GLK Mercedes Benz SUV with registration number BEN-734-EZ, conveying two male occupants for a routine search.

“When a search was conducted on the car and the passengers, one Barreta pistol, one locally made revolver pistol were recovered and the two suspects, one Joshua Oweke, 35, and Nicolas Binakeye, 25, were arrested. Exhibits in custody and investigation is ongoing,” said Edafe.

The image maker also said that on the 6th of December 2022, an intelligence report revealed that a syndicate who unlawfully deals in the sales of cartridges to cultists and armed robbers was hibernating in the Boboroku community in Jesse where they carry out their nefarious activities.

Acting on this report, the Commissioner of Police Delta State Command, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, directed the Command’s raiders squad to carry out a sting operation on the said hideout.

In compliance with these directives, the Commander Raider’s Squad detailed operatives who stormed the hideout at Boboroku Jesse Ethiope-West Local Government Area, and arrested Victoria Willams and two others all from Boboroku community in Jesse. The police team recovered 130 live cartridges were recovered.
